Hi,

Is it possible to Start Word and lauch a template. I can start Word no problem but don't know what the switch is for launching a doc or template. Can anyone help?

Thanks

Franky G

ps I'm doing this using macros as I don't have the first clue about coding it!

I don't do alot with macros so I don't know what the syntax is but in VBA you can use a FollowHyperlink method to follow a hyperlink to a file. I'm sure there will be a FollowHyperlink alternative for macros.

If the filename doesn;t change you'd be just as well inserting an hyperlink direct onto your form using Insert-Hyperlink from the file menu.

By inserting a hyperlink to the document you don;t have to worry about getting word started because your PC should do all the hard work for you...

hope that helps a bit.

Thanks for that...I should have given more detail though.

My Macro runs a make table query, with warnings set off, then Starts Word with the mail merge template. The mail merge template uses the newly created table as it's data source....so that's why I can't use a simple hyperlink.

Actually, I have now managed to start Word and launch the template, but I get an error message from Word saying that it can't find the specified file. I click OK and it opens it anyway! Any ideas why this error is thrown up? Can I disable this message?

Thanks again

Franky

If it doesn't impinge on the operation of your code use SetWarnings to false at the start and True and the end of your macro, this should prevent any error messages being thrown up.

May work.
