Runtime Access 2013

My db is running a couple of years. Recently I moved from Access 2003 to 2010 (both on a Windows XP computer). Both files (.accdb and accde) run as expected, but if these file are moved to a Windows 8 computer with runtime 2010 installed only .accdb runs and .accde generates an error. The error reports that 'the expression on load you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: error accessing file; network connection may have been lost'. In the on load event it checks if the backend can be found and, if not, the links will be refreshed after browsing/pointing at backend. This is not executed. I have no idea what is causing this and wasn't able to find a solution on internet. To be complete: the windows 8 computer is also installed with Office 2013 including Access.

Does the Windows 8 machine have more than one version of Access installed? Or is it possible that you have the wrong version of Runtime installed (or more than one Version of Runtime installed? Access doesn't get along with itself if more than one version is installed.

It was tested on a Wndows 8 with and without Access 2010 installed. Both resulted in the same error. In the past it was always tested on a machine with previous versions of windows having a version of access and the proper runtime installed. Never this error came up and nothing has been changed in the load event.
