motor or push?

Hey I understand you guys are spending bilions of dollars, so you can have your own Sat Nav system.

Dont want to use any free technology supplied by the Americans?

Len,

This is one of the latest that they sell with us :

http://home.versatel.nl/gpsnavigatie/gps-muis.htm

This is a do-it-yourself GPS connected to a laptop.
Unfortunately, the site is in dutch, but I 'll help you translate at no cost if you want me to :D

Yeah but where will you be when I am trundling along, with my laptop on the seat beside me, in unfamiliar territory and a message pops up.

Will it be for

Turn right
Turn left
Radar trap
Your lost

where will you be ?. :D :D

I recommend not speeding.
and it taken 10 posts for that to be said, Have you all gone soft out there.

Okay so that's out of the way now how about some sensible suggestions. :D :D :D

Kraj. We have a blight of cameras here. They are being used as yet another stealth tax by this government. Okay so technically (and actually) I was speeding and it will cost me £60 and 3 points. So I want to make sure it doesn't happen again. Quite a lot of the cameras are stratically placed to get you at the bottom of hills, and the like.

Can't you get one of those little things that sits on the dashboard and scans about for cameras? I believe it plugs into the fag lighter so no wiring needed as such.

Yeah but wondered if anybody had experience of that sort of thing combined with a sat nav system

Sorry to hear you got "flashed"

The guys at work swear by TomTom. Apparently there is a free add-on for camera locations. You can even get a version that loads onto a PDA.

BTW, the dash scanner only works for radar/laser guns - not cameras. If they scan you directly, you don't have much chance of slowing down in time before it gets a "lock" on you. Best chance is if it receives a deflection from it scanning the car in front :(

Just my tuppence-worth

Regards
Rod

Glad I could be there for ya. :)

It does sound like the setup is rather disingenuous. Will the cameras photograph you if you approach with a baseball bat?

Pay the gov to put the camera up and then pay for a gizmo to sneak by them... Who's the winner here? The camera / gizmo company?
