I am trying to load Excel files into access 2013. I have five different files and they all will be linked. They all will have forums that will be related to the files. There are times when I will want to have the ability to move the files independently. It seems that the main file, accdb, is treated as one file. When I tried to save one of the files it wanted to be saved as an Excel file, which was the type of file that was imported.

Is there a way to save the files as some type of a dBase file. My knowledge comes from Ashton Tate dBaseIV, which has been expanded into a well-developed database.

So so you can see my mindset needs an upgrade. Can you help me understand on how to save my individual files or is it even needed to be saved that way.

I simply do not understand what you want. Try to reword your request, and perhaps run it by a mate at work, as a reality check. Be careful which words you use, link is not the same as load. Forums? "Save one of the files (the loaded/linked/??? Excel file) it wants to save as Excel? What strange is about that and what else do you want? What is "ability to move the files independently."?

The issue has nothing to do with importing the file. It's all about how to deal with the file once it's imported, such as saving. When I import my Excel file. I would think it should be some sort of a access file. Generally, I have noticed in the past that the file ends up as and accdb. I never noticed the extension that was given to the files in the left column. Now I notice that the file is in Excel and my thought would be should be some sort of a access file.

Also, when I tried to modify a field I get the following error: "Operation is not Supported for this Type of Object".

So I'm more concerned on once something is brought into access on the possibility of saving files individually and the type of extension they should have.

Convet dBase IV to Access 2013
import dBase IV to Access 2013
The above 2 topics was bringing the file into Access 2013. Where this topic is about working with the file once it's brought into access, such as saving a file individually and also should an Excel file remain in Excel file, especially when it's not going to go back words anymore.
