Hello folks.
A quick question if I may. I'm not sure if this is an Access issue or a general windows one, but here goes.
I have a library access Database. One of the search methods is by Barcode. A form pops up upon request and the barcode of the book is scanned in. As soon as this is done, the search is immediately activated and the system faithfully returns all the books with the same barcode value. The event is set to 'After Update'. Works well.
However, when I set the same database up on another (older) machine everything works in the same way, except that the user has to press a key (enter) to activate the search, after the scanner has done its work.
Although I did not (consciously at least) set the original database installation to do this, it is has proved to be much more efficient than the user having to scan the book as well as press a key.
Any ideas as to how I can set this second installation to run as soon as the scanned data has been entered.
FYI, the newer PC, I have noticed, also behaves in the same way, if data is scanned into an internet site. As soon as the data appears in the search box, the search is instigated without the need to press enter.
This is why I'm unsure if this is an Access issue or not.
Any suggestions?
Thanks folks.
Rob
