Hi there.

This may be a vague or stupid question, but can I incorporate a search field on a form, much like an internet search field?

I'm creating a customer service database, and it would be nice to search for records containing certain keywords. For example- I would search for all records containing the word "complaint."

Any suggestions?

Thanks so much! :)

Yes, this is possible and fairly simple to set up. Do a search on this forum for "search form" and you will find tons of posts, code, examples, etc. for effective ways to do this...

Sentient,

I can't believe that I can't find any examples here using the
Search facility.

It is very easy to do. Add a new "unbound" field to your form
and set its default value to "".

The query for your form should include the new field and
its Criteria should be like:

Like "*" & Forms![YourForm]![YourNewField] & "*"

Then you can use the AfterUpdate event of your new field to
do a Me.Requery

still intressed?

Buon giorno Sentient,

I thougth you might want to have a look at this filter...
just place a button on the database to open the separate form with a filter (the code is basically the one you got from Wayne)
Just have a look at the codes, since you might find it difficoult to understand all the other italian words....
You can eventually ask me.
Ciao,
