Dear Colleagues,

I have a small situation on my public data bases. For example all of my data bases have switchboards as they’re starting screen therefore the users cannot change a thing unless… they press the shift key when starting the data base which would give them access to all of the data base. I have way to many users and I wouldn’t like to create users and users groups to limit the access of information from each one of them. Also the fact that every person that uses the data base would have to input a password makes it time consuming for the kind of business I am in. The big question is.. is there a way of requesting a password only when the user tries to enter pressing the shift key? Or in other words entering as a programmer? Please help with any suggestion you may have…

Thanks in advance,

Emmanuel

What you should do is convert the working copies to MDE files and Disable the Shift Over ride. That way the only person that can get to the back end is a programmer.

Disable the Shift

Disable Shift

Dear User,

A million thanks for your reply. I have only one problem I am not that related to Visual Basic and the codes that you just gave me. Either way I will try it. Another thing I am using Windows 2000 and Access XP does that changes anything? If you can give me a bit more help on how to get into this command code?

Thanks in advance..

Emmanuel
