Dear Whoever can help,

I have made a database and reports and forms etc. I am wanting to be able to do the following but have been trying for around a week and after spending £180 on MS Access it looks a little bad when i cant do this!

I have got a database and want to be able to select the file i wish to edit. I have written a form with a combobox which lets me select the (for arguments sake) the company name - i then wish for all the relevant information to that record come up and appear in the fields below. But instead it just changes the company name and all the fields below stay the same! I want it to look at which company name I am selecting (which will be unique and the primary key) then goto that records information n let me edit it.
I know its probably very simple but Im tearing my hair out here! PLEASE HELP!

Thanks, Gareth

Gareth,

This is because your company name is bound..... Try searching the forum, there are many upon many upon lots of samples on how to search for a record...

P.S. Welcome to the forum....

You should search the forum as namliam suggests. Among the easiest ways to achieve what you want is to use the combo box wizard and select the option that says "Find a record on my form based on the value I select in my combo box".

One of the simpliest ways to do this without any work is to put your cursor in the company name combo box and then use the find wizard (binocular icon on the toolbar)

This lets you type in the company name (or part of it), then you hit the find button and your there.

It isn't particulary pretty or flashy but it works, and might get you up and running till you can find a nicer way
