Selecting unique values

Im not too good at all this query stuff as i havent worked with acces/Databases too much so please bear with me.

I have the following query in VB which selects data depending uon a selection in a combo box.

How can i make the query Distinct (i think this is the term) ie: to display values only once even if they appear more than once.

("SELECT * FROM " & ComboBox1 & " WHERE " & ComboBox1 & ".assy AND " & ComboBox2 & "")

I believe you do it right after the
Select word.......

SELECT DISTINCT..........
