This may have been posted twice. I apologize for that, but the initial post had poor formating on my part.
For many this may be a rehash of info, but I can't seem to grasp the technique properly. I am building a series of tables very loosely based on the Northwind sample. The purpose is to track supplies as they are issued out to workers. To assist in entering the data I have broken it down into categories and sub categories.
I want the data entry person to be able to drill down through the large number of supplies based on these categories and sub categories, to find the right supply to be entered. I want a combo field to show the category of supply, the second combo box will show all the subcategories associated with that category. Finally choosing a subcategory will allow the person to see and choose from all the available supplies that fit those two previous categories.
My current 4 table layout is as follows:
Table: Subcategories
Primary: Subcategory
Table: Categories
Primary: Category
Table: Item
Primary: Item ID
Link: Category
Link: Subcategory
Table: Order Detail
Primary: Order# & Item ID
Any help on this would be most helpful
and very much appreciated.
