Sharing Database

Dear All,

I just tried to share my database to another PC where I put my database in shared folder but when I tried to open same database from another PC message popup like "could not lock file".

Any idea?

You must make few changes to your Database to use it on Shared mode.

1. Open the Database.
2. Open Options from Tools Menu.
3. Select the Advanced Tab.
4. Select the Shared Option under the Default Open Mode Option Group.
5. Select Edited Record under Default Record Locking Option Group.
6. Select Tools - ->Secvurity- ->User and Group Permissions.
7. Select Permissions Tab.
8. If you have not yet implemented Microsoft Access Security then select Admin under the User/Group Name otherwise display Groups List and select the Group Name that you would like to share the database with.
9. Select Database in the Object Type control.
10. Remove the Check-mark from Open Exclusive option.
11. Click Apply and Close the window.
12. Now try what you were trying earlier.
