Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone as delt with creating shift calendars(rota). I had an idea to create a calendar simular looking to the outlook design, but wondered if there were any other ideas out there.

To give you info, I want to create a rota so each shift can see what days they are working. There are 5 shift groups and they all work for 6 days before having 4 rest days. In the 6 days they work, the staff work 2 mornings, 2 Afternoons and 2 night shifts. In effect its like a 10 day week instead of (a normal) 7 day week. Of course there will be holidays, sick's and overtime so the rota needs to be flexible to change each persons shift pattern.

I've seen many calendar programs on the forum, but been unsure how these forms work and so wouldn't know where to start for me to adapt them to my needs.

Any ideas will be much appreciated.

Hi -
Attached is a small application (written in A97) you might play-around with. It presents the rota schedule in linear fashion, displaying each team's schedule over a specified month / year. I wrote it originally in response to a poster's requirement which included a specific starting date (#12/17/02#) for the rotation process to begin.

Post back if this would be helpful and some more info re the rota schedule.

Thanks Raskew for your reply.

I'll view this as soon as I'll get to my download work desk. (company a bit fussy about downloads). And I'll get back to you if this is usefull.

Hi Raskew,

I had a look at your program which you posted. Its very good and close to what I was thinking of doing. I'm a mere amateur when it comes to databasing and was wondering on a few things on how the program works. I noticed there is a table which lists each shifts pattern for october. But how does this translate for each other month??

The other thing would be if its easy to change a shift pattern on a whim!

From my first posting, I was after some info on how the calendar system calculates each day. I noticed form reading on the forum that the activex control is not recommended so is there any clues to how this was resolved.
