Hi, I'm new to ACCESS and I'm trying to build a simple DB app. It jus for calculating VAT and storing the info. First let me explain that it's for Irish VAT and Irish VAT works like this. VAT is payed for in 6 instalments, in bimontly format.
Jan - Feb,
Mar - Apr,
May - Jun,
Jul - Aug,
Sep - Oct,
Nov - Dec
So I have a table for the Month periods.
I have a Table for Years. 2007, 2008....
I have a Table for VAT rates and rate Values. 12% 0.12, 21% 0.21 so on.
And all the above tables have a ID AutoNumber set to primary Key
Then there is the VAT table itself. Here are the filds.
ID
Period
PeriodYear
CompanyName
InvoiceDate
AmountExVAT
VATRate
VAT
Total
So I think so far I'm doin OK. It is when I move on to the forms I have the problems. I then crated a form and a sub form. The main form only contains the header text and a few simple buttons in the detailed section and ofcourse the subform. New, Save, Undo, Delete.
I have two problems.
1. When the subform calculates the VAT and the Total then are not saved to the table VAT.
2. And this is the main problem. I tried to create the subform so it had the Period and the Period Year in the subform header. I wanted to only have to pick the VAT period and year once. The subform is a Continuous Form. And it work but everytime I move on to a new entry I still have to choose the Period and Period Year.
What am I doing wrong.
I would appricate some help.
