I may sound like a total moron, but today is my very first day using MS Access for inventory, which luckily isn't due for another 5 hours  .

I'm trying to create a simple math formula, if there is another term for it, please excuse me, I'm not quite sure what I'm doing.

I have two fields, which I want to multiply, and then have the product entered into "Total Value." I right click on the Total Value feild, and go to properties, and in "Validation Rule" I entered "[PRICE]*[QTY ON HAND]". That didn't work, can anyone possibly help me out? MS Access Help is no help at all, I think it was written for programmers, and and simple office workers :).

Thanks,
Michael

Why try to store the calculated value in a field in a table????

Never store calculated value = rule #1 of the rule book (well allmost never ;))

You can use the very same formula in a query to calculate them...
