i am hopeing that the database that i am currently working on will be able to be accessed by multiple users at the same time

i'm planning on leaving it on a shared drive where 6 computers will have access to it

my question is - how dangerous to the database is it if people edit and add records at the same time???

is microsoft access able to handle it if the same file is opened by multiple users???

is there a way that this can be made possible? or am i just dreaming?

No definately possible.
Actually the preference is to split your db into front end and back end with your front end being either access based or visual basic or any other gui for that matter.

Access does handle simulatenous edits...look into record locking...you can have the database lock on edits or allow for edits..thats all upto you. Adding at the same time doesnt matter since records are UNIQUE as long as PK's do not duplicate.

You're not dreaming you're on the right path.

Thanks.

THANKS!!

thats exactly what i wanted to hear!!
