I split my database and now the front end takes forever to load up the startup form. When placed on a network shared drive, it literally takes 45-50 seconds for the first form to load up. It is significantly worse at the location where it will be used (1-2 minutes on slower pc's with less memory). I tested this now at my home lan which is a 100mbit lan with a amd900 as the 'file server'. I've split databases before and have never had a performance loss of using linked tables. The forms are all pretty generic with a subform or two and a couple of macros. Any ideas on why the performance went down the drain when loading up the forms for the first time? Thanks in advance.

Possible solution

One thing I've found that can really slow down a split database is having the tables that populate ComboBoxes in the backend. Move these to the frontend whereever possible.
