We regularly get members asking how can they sort their addresses numerically and not alphabetically.

I have to use a software package that does just that by alphabet. :(

I raised a ticket to ask if it was possible to have them present the addresses of the properties numerically so 57 did not come before 6.?

They have just responded that if I rename the properties to have leading zeroes, that would do it?

Yes I know that would do it, but who names a property 06 Property St? :(

Perhaps that should be the stock answer from now on, as a 'professional firm' suggested it? :)

In the query, i add a field to convert text# to numeric:
=format(Cint(left([field],5)),"000")

I don't think Gasman was asking for a solution:) I think he was venting.

Not Access, but a professional software package.

Not so much venting, but surprised that a firm would offer that as a solution.:( The charity I used to volunteer with was bringing out the latest version of their computer system, and that had the same problem.?
They even also had a field on the web form that was for credit amounts and another for debit amounts?

Packaged software is what it is. If enough users complain about a feature, they might change it but if you're the only people who have complained, don't expect them to "fix" something that technically isn't broken.

Many accounting apps use separate fields for credits and debits. It goes back to the forms they used to use. It complicates the math but simplifies the view so whatever the client wants is what I do.

This is one advantage that's kind of cool about markets like the google Play Store (or, I imagine, the Apple Store, although I'm not familiar).
Where users give stars......with plenty of comments about functionalities and fixes needed, and dev's respond. Talk about keeping the devs on their toes!

Their answer is not wrong. In Queens, NY it is common to have addresses with a hyphen before the street (like 12-26). How do you sort non-numbers numerically.

To be fair to them, I have discovered a few bugs, which I reported and they corrected, but still.? :)

Addresses are complex. I've mentioned this in numerous posts. Companies like Reader's Digest whose entire business revolves around the USPS breaks down addresses into numerous parts to accommodate the regional differences in how they are constructed. The only way to solve the address problem reliably is to enter them from the beginning by keeping all the parts separate and then concatenating them to produce the address line 1. If you mush the parts, then separating them for sorting is always flawed unless you have only one style to accommodate. I's been a while but I'm pretty sure they separated trailing letters like the b from 101b First Ave and they might have separated the range numbers also.
