sorting reports

hi people..
I have a database of a few thousand items under a hundred categories.
Is there a way i can create the report to come out with a pre-defined category list?
eg. cat P followed by cat X, then cat A, then cat 3..

rather than just ascending or descending?

Thanks, i created the column.
I had to do it the long way - go through the hassle of creating a new report, adding the new field (catagoryID) on top of previous data..

The old reports' data fields do not have catID (did not click on it when using the wizard), so i had to create a new report with that field.
Is there a way whereby I don't have to create a new report but directly insert the new field into the old report?
