SP2 Combobox Becomes Transparent - bug persist
How to validate SP2 - and some information on what bugs may still exist.
Could upgrading from Access 2000 to 2007 gradually introduct the errors before the service pack?
When my combo boxes became transparent (or gray), one of the responses was that it could be Access SP2 was not installed.
After validating SP2 was installed (see instructions below), the next web site brought up another problem that may or may not be related.
This web site is excellent to determine if your bug is known or not:
http://allenbrowne.com/Access2007.html#Bugs
Example from the site above:
Combo becomes transparent
A combo may display as transparent when focus leaves it. Hotfix (post SP2.) Workaround: set AlternateBackColor property of (Detail?) Section to something other than "No Color", e.g. #80000027.
This was suppose to be fixed in SP2
If you install Access 2007 along with previous versions, you may find that, over time, help begins disappearing from the previous versions. For example, if you place the cursor in a property/method in code (such as Visible) and press F1, you get a completely blank window (no content.)
Sure enough: I am going to list the steps to show that I have SP2 installed. But, doing exactly the steps above, I get a blank (generic) page. And, did not recgonize the connection until reviewing the web site above.
In our case: The company updated from Access 2000 to Access 2007.
To make sure SP2 is installed, Microsoft provides this web site:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928116
Rather than post the version numbers here (since they may change later) be sure to look at both the 2007 Office Suite SP 2 version and the Microsoft Office Access 2007 SP2 version numbers.
To locate them on your workstation: Open Access, upper left Logo - Access Options, Resources - about Microsoft Office Access 2007
Read the Microsoft Office Access 2007 version and MSO version to evaluate them to the Microsoft link above.
My workstation absolutely matches the versions above.
However, the problem with the combo box (and other problems with the combo box delaying a write to the record, random lengths of time) plus other events in a text box that don't always fire in order.
And, my workstation will not bring up the help on the property box or when a property has the focus.
Interesting, now that the article mentions "you may notice over time" and this did work months ago, I can't actually remember when it gradually stopped working.
Suggestions are welcome. For now, I don't know exactly what instructions to give to the IT department to correct the Help missing or the combo box.
