I have created a query with three fields

shift_table:

staff_surname
shift_date
shift_period

shift period is either morning, afternoon, night.

I am trying to create a report that would display surnames under a shift period heading like morning with a date on the side. e.g:

*MORNING* *AFTERNOON* *NIGHT*

*DATE* SURNAME SURNAME SURNAME

Try using the Crosstab Query Wizard to get the results you want and base your report on this.
