Good Morning,

I recently started at a new company that needs to have a good database setup. My task is to lay the foundations now, and build upon over the years. I'm basically starting with a clean slate (and no interferring coworkers with Access knowledge).

My question is that we currently have Access 2003, and I'm wondering if it would be best to start out on Access 2007. Any thoughts? Or is it not a big deal (easily convert to 2007 at a future point)?

Thanks.

Hi, things nto note.

We just upgraded all our PC's from Office 97 to 2007.

Most databases worked fine however the 2 biggest problems I had were
- new filename - accdb instead of mdb
- complicated VB often had errors (generally deleted the function or renamed)

Does your company have an IT policy? Will they upgrade their PC's soon ?!

No IT policy - the company is sort of small and IT is often overlooked. They will eventually upgrade, but if it is a smart idea, I will press for the upgrade sooner rather than later.

I would suggest you wait, if possible, and go to Office 2010. There are so many fixes to annoying 2007 stuff there that I think you may want to go there instead. But, of course you probably need something right away so that may not be a good option. Office 2010 should be available, if all goes well, sometime in the first half of 2010.

Thanks. I think sticking with 2003 and waiting for 2010 would be best.
