stock control database tutorial

for my A level coursework i have to make a stock control database. i hae decieded to do it on a computer shop near my house , but i have not a clue where to start, eg designing the tables etc, is it possible for someone to make me a tutorial for me plz

Access comes with a basic inventory control db, have you tried there for starters?

i ve seen the one in access but the things is that i need to make it while im in class at collge as well , so a tutorial would be very handy

You'll need to think about the levels which you want to go to.

Do you want to incorporate stock control? i.e it flags up when you get to certain levels or are you just having a "customer" table and a "stock" table and a "purchases" table?

Do you want to keep a track of who buys what, most popular items, slow sellers? how about re-ordering? do you need to generate stock ordering lists? do you want to enter all the companies you buy stock from? best prices etc etc

Do you need to generate invoices?

As Rich quite rightly says, have a look and see if you can find the Db. You might need to get a book on how to create Db's just to show you examples.

• The system should be able to hold details of all the items in the shop.
• It shoould alert the user if an item is below its reorder level.
• The system should be able to give out accurate calculations.
• It should keep track of orders and create weekly, monthly and annual sale reports.
• The system should be able to archive information for future reference.
• The system should have good security e.g. password protected.

sumthing along theses lines
it s a computer shop that sells hardware , software and peripherals
any help appreciated
