In the database I've created, when opening the referral form, then adding a new 'Offender', then trying to add a new 'Referrer' - a message comes up saying that it can't find the Key ID of the 'Referrer' in the Referrer Table.

The strange thing is that this message only comes up when I add a new 'Offender'. If I select an 'Offender' who already exists, then I can add a new 'Referrer' without any problems.

What am I doing wrong?

Just change your Command8 click event (the Done button on the referrer add form) to this:

Code:
    DoCmd.Close acForm, Me.Name, acSaveNo
    stDocName = "frmReferral"
    Forms!frmReferral.ReferralRefID.Requery

You don't need these parts
Code:
    DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acNewRec
    DoCmd.DoMenuItem acFormBar, acRecordsMenu, 5, , acMenuVer70
    Form.Recalc
    Form.Refresh

Life saver!!

Thank you so much Bob - once again you've saved me!! Next time you're in England, let me know because I owe you a few drinks! ;)

Never been there and likely won't ever get there. Not that I wouldn't like to visit but there are a couple of things working against me coming:

1. I went to Palau a year and a half ago and it was my first international trip. I don't like the hassle of going through customs and all.

2. My trip to Palau made me realize that I don't like being on an airplane that long. The maximum for me is about 5 hours, enough time to get to Hawaii, but that's about my limit.

3. Cost - I can't really afford it as I made the mistake of going to a private university (I went to also be an aide to a friend who has Cerebral Palsy and was attending), and I have student loans which take up a pretty good chunk of money and I'll be paying on for the next 30 years.

So, thanks for the offer, but it's not likely that you'd have the opportunity.
