Hi All,

We have a form in our 2010 DB that creates an EXCEL pivot table.

There is a command button on the pivot table that refreshes the data in the pivot table from a .accdb database.

On some of our machines we get these messages, has anyone seen these before?

Note: these messages fire on windows 2002 and 2010 machines, but other 2002, 2003 and 2010 machines work fine and the pivot connects with the DB fine.

The issue seems to be that the pivot table is looking for a .mdb database rather than a .accdb database but I can't work out why 2010 machines are doing this as well?

I try to point it at the .accdb database but get the ODBC message.

Thanks

JohnG
Any ideas?
JohnG

Does everyone have Office 2010 (the complete suite)? It looks to me like this is trying to connect to an Access 2007/2010 database format from an XLS file which has no knowledge of Access because the ACCDB file format was not around when that Excel file type was created.

You should only be using the ACCDB file format from an XLSX, XLSM, etc. format.

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the message.
We have 2010 runtime on all machines but the OS is 2002, 2003, 2007 and 2010 on different machines.
The strange thing is however that it works on "some" of these machines, and not others.
I have one OS 2010 pc where it does not work (i get this message), another OS 2010 pc that it does work.
I have one OS 2002 pc where it does not work, another OS 2002 pc that it does work.
I would have thought that it should work on ALL 2010 machines and no 2002 machines
Any other ideas?

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the message.
We have 2010 runtime on all machines but the OS is 2002, 2003, 2007 and 2010 on different machines.
There is no 2002, 2003, 2007, and 2010 OS (OS means OPERATING SYSTEM and would be Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7).

If you are talking about OFFICE 2002, 2003, 2007 and 2010, if you have code that refers to the accdb file, then only Office 2007, or 2010 using Access 2007 or 2010 and Excel 2007 or 2010 will work with this. If you are using the Runtime but Excel 2010 is not installed on that machine, then if you are referring to any xlsx, xlsm, xlsb file, it will fail.
