I have written a database which is used at a distribution centre for controlling trailer movements around site, as I am always looking at ways to improve what I can do with the database, the site is coming up to a very busy period and I have had an idea which would be very useful. There are programs in existence that will do this, but they are not something that could be implimented quickly so I am looking at other possibilities.
Basically I would like to place a PDA unit inside the 'shunting' unit and send information to it from an Access DB telling it where to pick up the next trailer and where to take it (on the site) and also pass simple messages to it e.g. trailer xxx requires moving closer to the loading bay. So the question is, can I get the PDA to collect a file from our network, the PDA will not be attached to a PC it will be in the 'shunting' unit full time.
If not, does anyone have any other ideas on how to achieve this?
