Running Access 97...
no problems till now

Open database to try create a new report with wizard and when I hit finish I get the neverending hourglass, and I ctrl +alt+del and access is not responding anymore. The report is not long and fancy just 6 fields from a query that works fine on all existing reports. Anyone have this problem before? Also..

am working with split DB and usaully when I open front end I see
databasename.mdb and databasename.ldb through Explorer and when I finish working and close access this .ldb file is no longer there. But now the .ldb is not going away like usual. Is this a problem, or causing my other problem? I have no idea.

Thanks.

1) What happens when you create the report from scratch? Any probs running then? Which report wizard are you running? Do you have any parameters or criteria that refers to form objects. Are those objects OK? Wizrds can be funky sometimes. I always try to avoid them as I usually spend more time fixing their little nuances than it would take just to create the report from scratch. (As I think you may now agree! :D)

2) The .ldb file is the record-locking file that is created each time you open a database. Upon closing, it is automatically deleted, BUT, if you close Access in an irregular way ... Task Manager, End Task ... Shut off computer - UnPlug ... then Access does not have the chance to delete the file. You can delete the file yourself. No prob, though, next time the database is opened, it gets re-created and will be deleted the next time Access is closed normally. Not related to your other problem.
