Ok, I have a form with a subform. 1 textbox on main form, 6 fields in datasheet view on subform. Subform's record source is a query.

The query runs fine on its own. No problems.

The subform when I try to view it works fine. But when I try to open the main form in form view, I get pop up saying enter parameter value and then lists a field that is not in the query and is not one of the fields on either form...

why?

If you haven't already done so, double-check the spelling and spacing of all controls on both forms, all fields used in both forms' queries, and all fields referenced within all query criteria. Also check the ControlSource setting for all form controls, and the LinkChildFields and LinkMasterFields properties of the subform control. When you get an unexpected parameter prompt, in my experience it always means that a field or control name is misspelled somewhere, or that there is some other reference that Access cannot resolve.
