I recently took over another database that is specifically used for holding and tracking individual’s property. Any individual can have more than one property (bag number) while visiting. Each property bag has a bar code. The bar code is scanned into a subform while entering the individual’s information on a entry form.
At the time of exit, there could be number of individuals with multiple property bags leaving at one time to another destination. I would like to track a few things from a new form [frmPropertyTransfer]. The form or at least concept was designed around scanning multiple bags from multiple people at a time. This form would/could be brought up at a later time to track the whereabouts of a particular property (Ex. property was released to this person, on this day, at this time, along with these additional pieces of property).
What I would like to do is on my subform [SubfrmPropertyTransfer], after a scan of the bar code or a manual entry of the bag number, the remaining text boxes in the subform will auto fill with that bags information such as the Date they came in, Property Type, etc (all of which is stored in the table).
Is this possible? Would the subform need to requery after entry? How would you set up that relationship for the bag number instead of the autonumber, if that is even a solution? Keep in mind there will never be duplicate bag #'s.
