Subform

In the future please just post your questions here as it will make it easier for someone to post an anwer...

1. Use Grade Level as the Master/Child links.
2. In design view open the property sheet for the control(s) in question and select the Other tab. Change the text in the Name property to the text you want to display.

My answer to # 1 may not be the best answer, but with the amount of information you supplied that is my best guess.

Sorry I thought to look at a picture of the problem would be easier to understand. Tried your suggestion and the labels in form veiw still does not change. Here's the two questions again: -When user selects a grade level (ex. 6) the test for that grade should appear on separate lines in subform (for 6th grade test is writing and reading)
-In a subform: how do I change the labels in the form view? I changed them in Design view, but it won’t change in form view.

If you want to display your records in the subform as one record below the other, like an Excel spreadsheet, then set the forms Default View to Datasheet. If you want to change the 'labels' above each column follow the instructions I posted in my previous response. If you are using Continous Forms then you should not have any problems with the labels.

Without more information on your setup between the form and the subform I am going to stick with my suggestion of setting the Master/Child links to GradeLevel or whatever you use to distinguish between grades.

Not a problem with not posting your questions here. When I opened your attachment all I saw were the two questions...

I must be doing something wrong because the Labels in form view does not change.
On the other problem, the user wants the tests to appear automaticly in subform (on separate lines) when a grade is selected.
Can I send you a picture in Word?

If the db is small enough you can zip it and attach it. You can attach a Word document if you prefer.

When you say that 'labels do not change' you will have to be specific and say what kind of form you are displaying (single form, continuous forms or datasheet). Also be as specific as you can in telling us exactly what you are doing and what is happening. Saying that it that labels do not change is not enough information.

You need to give as much detail as you can about what you want to do so we can help you. At this point your explanations are so general that it is really difficult to try and assist you. Saying the user wants '... tests to appear automaticly in subform (on separate lines) when a grade is selected." does not give us enough information. When are the grades selected? How are grades selected? Do you have a form/subform? Are the tables properly related? Are the Master/Child links set?

The more detail you can give the better your chances that someone will be able to help you find a solution.

Its hard for me to explain that is why I think a picture is easier to interpret. I've attached as a 'zip' file

It would appear that your subform is displaying the data the way you want. If this is not so then send a picture of what is being displayed.

1. As I suggested before set the Master/Child links to Grade or whatever you use to tell the 6th grade records from the 5th grade records. The Master Link will be your combo box on your main form. The Child link will the grade level control or whatever you use to tell the 6th grade records from the 5th grade records.

The instructions I gave you earlier to change "StudentLevelC" to something else is still correct:

In the forms design view open the property sheet for the control(s) in question and select the Other tab. Change the text in the Name property to the text you want to display.

I have tried to send other zip files, but they are too large. Is there another place I can send these Word pictures to you? I have done these labels EXACTLY how you suggested (several times in fact) and they do not change! With all the databases I've design, this problem is really getting to me.
Thanks for all your help.

By the way, I entered the data on the picture just to show you what I want to appear AFTER grade is selected. Sorry for the confusion.

The db is too large, but I will send others. If you still need to see db, I will take things out (graphics and things I don't need).
Thanks

All I need are the bare-bones form(s) and the associated tables with at least a few records in them.... And an explanation of which form does what and what you are trying to accomplish.
