Hello,

I have report and subreport in it.Subreport has header , detail section and footer. If header and detail section are filled , then everything prints out and its ok. But if detail section is empty, then header is also shown as empty in my report (actually whole subreport is invisible then)...

How to make it show header section while detail section is empty... ?

Thanks

Do you really need to show the subReport Header.

A Report Displays Data, if there is no data to display you will have nothing displayed.

Hi,

I have a couple of reports where I would want the sub report headers to be there even if there are no relevant entries. This would keep the appearance of the report consistent for various different records and also show that, for instance, there are no project milestones or Management comments.

Another reason is that if one of my subreports does not show as it has no data, and the next one down does, I can be left with blank space in my form. I solved this by removing the dividing lines I had drawn but I did rather like them. There may be other reasons, but these have been real world situations I have had.

So maybe there is some way to add a null record to a table that would mean a subreport would show without any entries?

An alternative way to get round this is to add labels on the report with the subreport headers & footers positioned directly above and below the subreport. Either remove the header from the subreport or set the visible property to "no". When the report generates, the headers and footers show even if the subreport is not there.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Keith.

Hi - I would be very interested if anyone has found a solution to this.

the solution

well I hope this is still useful for the one who opened the thread.
In the report design view open the query builder from the record source.
on the join properties window (appears when you double click on the relationship line). Select option number 2. This will show records from the header regardless if there is data in the detail section or no.

Hi. Thanks for this. Will give it a go when I get over the dreaded Norovirus which is sweeping the UK at the moment. :(
