Sum based on criteria

I have a report setup with a group footer. In the group footer I have a textbox that is suppose to display the sum of the records in the group that meet one criteria minus the sum of the records in the group that meet another criteria.

Haven't figured this out yet. I've looked up things like SumIf but couldn't get that to work correctly.

Any ideas?
 
This is a work around not a very technical process.

In the query you based your report on, create a field that returns the field you want summed if the criteria is correct and returns a 0 if the criteria are incorrect. Put this field in your report and make it invisible. Then have the sum in the footer simply sum this field and display it.
