I have a report that has a grouping on 6 different items from a table. And I have sums over different items within the 6 groups. I have the report so it gives a total sum of all 6 groups. But if I would like it to give me the sums of say groups 1-3, and then a different sum for groups 5 and 6 how would this be done?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Grouping

Is there some field that groups these items together...like a category.

I presume you report groups on the items themselves but in order to get a sum of them as aggragates you will need to have a higher level group...sorry if this sounds mysterious.

That actually makes perfect sense but not here is not.
The groups are all catagories of what status a person might have.
But there is no collective status that fits groups 1-3 and 5-6 that would really make sense except on this report (thus I do not want it in the table).
There is no way to say though that if the group is group 6 then do this.

Hmmm...

I suppose that you could use a conditional phrase in your report to select specific records to sum.

However, the question then becomes where to put it. You might be able to put a field in the footer for group 3, for instance, that would sum the fields if their "group" is in 1, 2, or 3.

=IIf([groupid]IN (1, 2, 3),sum([yourfield]))

The same could be set up for groups 4-6...I think.

Bon chance,

Dennis:)

Thanks that did it, I can do that by putting it in the group footer and then make it not visible and then set a value in the Report footer that equals it and then do all I want with the value in the footer. Your awesome make it to Memphis TN and I'll buy you a beer.
