having a simple form as the pic attached ... will there be any disadvantages rather than using a switchboard ?

But what would a switchboard give you that the form isn't? Isn't a switchboard basically a form that displays user options?

Yes, it's easier to maintain

Honestly, I've never used the switchboard manager. I like to give my users a very specific set of options. I have used switchboards from the sample databases, though. They're useful if your options change often.
