I accidently deleted the swithboard from the "forms"-area. I know it is still there, coz when I got to Database utilities|Switchboard Manager I can still see it. How can I get it back in the "forms area"
Thank u..
Stacey

are u sure its not just the tabel with the switchboard items giving switchboard manager the info?

It could be... But can I get rid of it and make a new one that will appear on the "forms" area? so far i haven't been able to delete it since its giving me the default sign.

Just press the new button in the manager then set the new as default and delete the other one.
then edit the new one. :)

unfortunately that didn't change anything.. whatever I can do, it does not appear on the "forms area"... any other suggestions?

Well u cant get a deleted file back so you must create a new one.

if you cant then copy all the tables and other forms and stuff to another database, then build a new switchform in this one.

I was able to recreate this situation but have not figured out how to get the new switchboard to show up in the database window yet.

You could always opt for using a custom made form for your navigational needs. I think it's better and more versatile anyway.

so, the only way out is to BUILD one from scratch? and not through the switchboard manager?

If you have deleted the Form called "Switchboard" then it is gone. Use the Switchboard manager to delete the old switchboard and re-make it. Make sure you also delete the table Switchboard items.

If the switchboard manager still shows the entries, it _might_ be possible to easily recover your switchboard-form.

- Just create a new database
- create a switchboard on it
- copy the switchboard form
- open your own database (you might need to open this with the file manager, otherwise your clipboardata could be lost)
- paste the copied form in to the forms. Access will ask for a name. Name it to whatever it should be. (I think Switchboard). You might need to get the capitalisation right to get it to work.

Good luck,
I hope it works...

hey muffinimal,
your way worked and it's easy... thanx..

I figured it out...

Delete the table 'switchboard items'

When you create a new switchboard after doing this it will prompt you that there are no switchboards and do you want to create one. After doing so, it will show up in your database window under forms

edit:
oops I missed a few posts! LOL

I don't think you will be able to edit the switchboard with the switchboard manager with the import process, better check that out before you go too far.

i think that seemed like the better idea too. even when i make a switchboard it mistly ends up not using anything the maneger created when the database is done.
