I run Access 2000 under XP since a few days. New HDD, new XP, new office install. My database has a switchboard, but it fails with debugger messages when I try to open it. I started the switchboard manager and all menu items are in there, all looks normal, but it still craps out. Please help.

"Can't find Project or library" is the message from the debugger.

Open while holding down a <SHIFT> key and check for bogus MISSING references. <ALT> F11 Tools>References

Opening the database with <SHIFT> prevented the form to open. When I open the switchboard form with or without <SHIFT> the same error message come up.

Hi DaneRanch,

Are you able to get to the database window? If so what file type is the mdb? Usually written in the top of the Database Window.

1. Microsoft Access 97
2. Microsoft Access 2000

Did you go to <ALT> F11 Tools>References and check for bogus MISSING references?

Hi Robert and RuralGuy

I get to the database window, it is a .mdb under Access2000, Office SP3. I found under References a checkmark at "Missing:Microsoft DAO 2.5/3.5 Compatibility Library". The path for the file was written in German, although I left Germany many years ago. Where does this come from??? I unckecked it and checked instead the "Microsoft DAO 3.6". That cured the problem. I don't know what I am doing actually...I just followed your tips. Is there a chance of other stuff being messed up ??

Hi Stefan,
Probably not, but if something else is goofed up and you can't resolve it then just post a new thread on this forum and we'll try and help.
