I have a form with a subform. They are related by an item number. I have a button on the main form that on_click it goes to a new record. My subform info doesn't appear, I presume because I am going to a new record and the item number is blank so the subform has no info. My question is: How come when I depress the Tab key on my keyboard the subform brings up the info. I can't see in my code behind the forms where I tell it to do this? Please explain...

Thanks.

Marathon,

I am guessing that your forms are not using the Master-Child
relationships.

If you are not, then your subform must explicitly do a
Requery to remain current. The Tab key must be moving the
focus to your subform and there is probably code there that
does a Me.Requery.

To control it directly your main form can do a
Forms.[MainForm]![Subform].Requery in its AfterInsert event.
