I have a form - that when opened by itself appends data to a table (it uses an append query). When I open this same form from another form (I have a button that the click event opens it) the form doesn't allow any updates! What would cause the same form to act differently depending on where you open it from? I've checked all the properties I can think of. Thank you. Marie

Post the code behind the button

It's pretty harmless - I think....

Private Sub cmdAddNewRecord_Click()
On Error GoTo err_cmdAddNewRecord_Click

DoCmd.OpenForm "frmInputtbl2004Expense"

Exit_cmdAddNewRecord_Click:
Exit Sub

err_cmdAddNewRecord_Click:
MsgBox "Error number: " & Err.Number & " - " & Err.Description
Resume Exit_cmdAddNewRecord_Click
End Sub

Well, my problem has been resolved - but I really don't understand how. Once I deleted my recordsource and change allow edits from No to Yes - it works. Oh well, someday I'll figure out what I'm doing and why!

Glad you got it fixed, here's what I was going to suggest...
Code:
    DoCmd.OpenForm "frmInputtbl2004Expense", acNormal, , , acFormEdit
