tables, queries forms not displaying

I have a db I need to update the information in the tables. The db has a switchboard, when I press shift to get into the controls I can't see anything. No forms, queries, forms, report nothing. I've tried compacting and repairing w/no sucess. Any idea's short of having the db restore from tape and loosing days of data?
