Wondering the use of tabs? Can I use tabs to have a main form and subforms? not sure how tabs work...or are tabs for main forms only?

Hope that makes sense to someone.

Thanks for any help!

Depends on what you want to do.
You can have a tab control on a main form. You can have a tab control on a subform. You can also have a tab control on a main form, with subforms on each of the tab pages (and the subforms can have tab controls on them too). So, they are quite versatile. If you're having trouble deciding on what you need, explain further.:)

Hi

Tab pages have their good points and their not so good point. Their good points are they are great space savers. The not so good point is they hide information. This is problematic for people like me with bad memories who can't remember what they selected on the first/previous page and it also means that should you want to print a form it becomes difficult.

I try to think about the pages as a folded up form, a bit of Access origami, the pages are all part of the same form and just give you extra form real estate. Consequently you can have tabs on a subform that is linked to the main form which also has tabs on it.

If you look at the form in the picture you will see 4 tabs which comprise the main form and a sub form that has 7 further tabs. For simplicties sake you can think of there only being 2 forms with the objects for the main form being on 4 tabs and the objects for the sub form being on 7 tabs.

It also means that way you don't have to reference the page to control objects on that page you reference the form. There are lots of posts here on the uses of tabs but if you've got anything specific i will try to help.

Ok this is my situation....

If it's possible...

I want an Order form, the main form, with tabs of the subforms ( Payments, Purchase Orders, Additional Costs)

I have the simpliest of problems just try to putthe subform on the tab control. Is there a linking property.?

Thanks again

No, you just put it on the tab.

Hi

Left Click on the part of the tab showing its name, it should highlight with a box, go to the menu bar and select the subform object , bring the cursor over the tab page. It should go black, left mouse down in the balck area and drag the subform object onto the page. This should activate the subform wizard. If you get it wrong when you change pages you will still see the subform.
