Taking ages. Why?

Dear All

I am trying to produce a report based on a crosstab query.

In the crosstab query I have take a date field as column heading with the format "yyyymm" and couple of fields as row headings. Crosstab query is further based on a select query that has a criteria defined in a field to filter the data.

When I try to creat report it takes ages, so long that I give up after 3-4 minutes. Can somebody tell me where I am doing wrong? What should I look for? Any suggestions?

3-4 minutes sound too much, but in my experience crosstabs are quite slow.

Why can't you filter the crosstab directly?
