Hi there - on one of my forms i have a text box where the user can write the contents of a letter. When a button is pressed, a report is run, and the text from the form is entered into the report -

this all works fine - but when the text reaches a certain length, it goes all unreadable. SO i assume this use of a temp variable (as its not being stored in a table) comes with a text limit? Is there anyway to extend this?

Cheers

you have an unbound control not a variable. The max number of characters in a control is 65,535.

Mm, so this means that it shouldnt go funky after a couple of short paragraphs?

It seemes to cut out after 500 words...where can i change the settings for this, is it in the report/query/text box? Cant seem to find a way to change...

You should bind your textbox bound to a Memo field and not, as I suspect, a Text field which only has a 255 character capacity.

Is this possible considering there is no 'field' - as the text box does not link to a table! the text in the text box is transferred to the report, thats all.!

does the text 'go wierd' on the report. If so ensure that the report's text box 'can grow' as sometimes if this is set to no the final line of may be cut off and appear as gibberish.

Yes, the field & detail section are set to 'can grow'. I tested it, and the text turns unreadable from the 501st letter!! this should be a clue?>

The number 500 (as a limit) makes no sense. Access limits tend to be binary things - like, maybe, 512 (next closest power of 2 above 500), previous should have been 256.

This is a wild-hair type experiment, but ... change the font size in this text box to the next smaller size and see if that makes a difference in capacity. If not, it was a simple test. If so, I can perhaps explain it.

OK - just tested this, and heres the score. On the form where the text is entered made no difference decreasing or increasing text size. However, I decreased the size of the text on the report from 12 to 10, and it showed a 'bit' more of the text!

What does this mean!!
