Hello,
I'm new to the world of access and I hope that I find some help from you. the idea of what I'm trying to do is very simple and I believe it's doable in access but the problem is I don't know how. the following illustrates what I'm aiming at:
1. I want to store projects with each one of them has its own tasks.
2. I should be able to assign tasks to employees. a task can be done by one or more employee
3. I should also be able to assign budgeted hours for any tasks assigned to employees in any projects. summing the budgeted hours of tasks should give me the total budgeted hours for the project. by multiplying the budget/actual hours and the charging rates per hour of employees I should be able to get both the estimated & actual costs for each project.
4. Employees should be able to enter this database file which will be put in a server and choose their names and the project their working on and type in the actual hours they spent on the project.
5. A detailed monthly time sheet report of employees working hours can be generated

the template I found in access called "projects" from microsoft is almost 80% what I want. but still I don't know how to get what I wrote you above in there.
I hope that you can help me on this. thank you.

Hi Freda

Yes its all possible

But your description suggests you don't have a lot of experience of designing databases in which case there are so many steps that it is an impossible task to explain it in one step. Your description of what you want is absolutely all encompassing.

You may be best placed buying an off the shelf project management software package.
