I have an issue with a text box.

I have a Combo Box that have 4 fields. When I click the box, the correct drop down options appear. I store the Name in the combo box.
Next, I have the text box below it, storing the Price of the Item:
=[Combo Box Name].[Column](2). This is correct because the Price Number appears correctly in the box.
Here is the problem: The Text Box shows the number but I want it formatted to be Currency. At this point, I have just a number (10) instead of ($10).

Can't understand why the box will not take the format of currency.

Please assist me with this small issue that is taking up my time.
(And maybe your time too)

Thanking you all in advance.

Hi,

There are a couple of ways to approach this, but you could try using the following for starters.

=CCur([Combo Box Name].[Column](2))

Hope it helps...

To the DBGuy

Yes Sir....works like a charm.

I did not know about the Currency Function.

It works very well. It really solved my problem sir.

Thanks again a million time savers......

Hi. You're welcome. Glad we could help. Good luck with your project.

Well I was going to ask
1. Why is the value not a format of Currency in the first place?
2. have you set the property of the control to Currency ?

1. Even if the value is formatted as Currency, it still does not appear as such in the other control.?
2. Format of Currency for the control does not seem to work?:banghead:
3. =Format([Combo9].[column](1),"Currency") works

=CCur([Combo9].[column](1)) does not appear to work?

Learnt something new again. ;)

Edit: By the time I posted, there had been 3 & 4, so why did it not work for me?
No format and control source of =CCur([Combo9].[column](1)) ??

Oops.
Still a problem.
I have 3 combo boxes that need that function to work on.
It works on the first combo box but the other two, not working at all.

What are you seeing in the other Textboxes? Did you set the Format property of those Textboxes to Currency as well?

I posted the same answer as the DBGuy just after him, then deleted mine when I saw his reply.

=CCur(comboname.Column(2)) as the textbox record source works for me

Ah, OK, CCur works if the format of the control is also set to Currency.

Yes, I recommended that approach because you already mentioned you set the Format property of the first Textbox to Currency. Otherwise, we could try a different approach. Cheers!

Not me DBGuy,

I'm not sure the o/p even used the property format of Currency. It is not clear to me. That is why I did some testing and by the time I had completed that, posts 3 & 4 were present.

Hi,

I suppose I read into this line of his:

Can't understand why the box will not take the format of currency.

If it didn't work, I would have suggested another route.

The =Format([ Combo Box Stuffed Animals].[column](2),"Currency") - Works
Yes...I tried the first command - but it only worked with the first combo box.
The Format command worked with the other 2 combo boxes.

Thanking all of you.
The project is now getting closer and closer to completion.
Amazing at the type of assistance that is available.
