Text field limits

We use access 97 and the text field is limited to 255 chars. I'm just curious what the limit is in 2000 and if anyone knows what it is in XP?

We'll be jumping to XP later in the year.

255 for Access2000 and I would image the same for XP, but I can't swear to it.

Yeah, but in 97 at least, you can't search the memo field, at least not w/ the basic search functions. That's why I never use it.

I was hoping that by XP they'd overcome this somehow. But its not that big of a deal to me, but woulda made some things nicer.
