Hello,

I need to make the text size smaller to fit everything on the screen (users use 17" monitors.. grr!)
I have gone into each form and subform and changed the text size for each text box to 9, but when I view them in form view the size has not changed ?

Am I missing something really simple and obvious ??

Also .. is there any way to make the autocentre option actually work as it's name suggests !! ? it does in most cases centre horizontally, but never vertically, quite often putting the top of the pop up form over the ribbon bar.

I would actually like to be able to totally remove the ribbon bar so that only the database forms are the only thing the user sees.

I vaguely remember being able to do this in Access 97 (Which was the last version I used - a long time ago !) but this seems to be more difficult in 2010 version.

Sorry for the unrelated questions, any help on either or all would be greatly appreciated, pretty much at the GUI end of the project, and i,m NOT a GUI person :)

Cheers

D.

Hmm, never had that problem. How are you changing the Text Size? Are you selecting the fields? And when you do so are you seeing the Text Size change? In mine, if I switch from 9pt to 8pt in Design Mode I can see it.

As for the Auto center.. Do you have the Form set as a Pop-Up?

Hiding/removing the Ribbon, you can use...
Code:
DoCmd.ShowToolbar "Ribbon", acToolbarNo
...in the On_Open event of your Switchboard/Main Menu/Navigation Menu.

Hi Gina,

Thanks for the reply.

More info: I have a Navigation form that has 6 subforms that nest within the NavigationSubForm.
Each subform is in datasheet view.

From within the Navsubform and for each separate subform, I selected all of the label and text boxes and then changed the font size from the Property Sheet.
The size of the test changes visually in each of the subforms whilst still in Form Design View, just to make sure I wasn't be daft, I set the font size to 5, and sure enough the text in the label & text boxes is tiny.

But when I save that and then open the nav form in normal view, the size is still at 11 !!
This is very confusing:banghead:

Re: auto centre - yes all forms are set to popup, maybe it's just me being picky !! is there a way to have it auto-centre but manually set the height ?

And thanks for the tip on hiding the ribbon, I will do that and hide the navigation bar and disable all the control box/close form buttons right at the end - if I ever get there !!

Thanks again

D.

Hmm, are you using a Theme? Sounds like the Them is set for 11pt and that would be where you have to change it. (Don't use Themes and that would be one of the many reasons.)

Pop-up - You can try using the MoveSize() method to set the height...

As for hiding/disabling/etc... Be careful, you lock yourself out. So, either do it on a Design Master Copy for distribution OR make sure you have a back door in. :D

I actually didn't know you could have themes in Access !!
Unless it is because I used the wizard to create the navigation form ? which I know some may frown upon.

I will fiddle more ;)

I'll read up on the movesize function and give that a go - thanks.

I did read back along that you can hide most of the ribbon and tool bars and then re-enable them with by holding down a certain key when opening Access, I'll have to look it up again, thanks for the warning though !!

I've had dinner and a glass of wine now, so will probably leave Access'ing till tomorrow now :D

Thanks for all your help.

D.

To see Theme, in Access 2010, while Design Mode, look at the Ribbon... you should see a drop down labeled Themes over to the left. I believe it is applied when you use the Wizard.

Yes, that is true about holding down the Shift Key while opening but only if you don't also disable that which is why I said make a Design Master Copy.

Wine? Great idea!
