@hawker Welcome to AWF. You seem to be a student charged with creating a specific application for a class project. Don't you think it would be better if you actually attempted to do the class assignment yourself? Why are you taking the class if it is not to learn how to use Access?

We are always here to help but you do need to put in some effort yourself. Start by creating the tables and posting the database with those. If you tell us the specs, we will tell you if the tables will work to satisfy the requirements and if not we will offer suggestions.

Then you can move on to create forms and reports, etc. But don't create any objects until you are sure the schema will work.

You're right, I was given a task. I am able to use Access at a good level, but unfortunately I am limited in time. I need to show the work tomorrow, physically I won't be able to do it myself. So it would be nice if someone could give me their project or at least part of the project.

@hawker - it would be nice if someone could give me a million US dollars - but I'm not going to hold my breath while waiting to get that. I know I don't have a TV Store database waiting around on the shelf. And if any of us did, we probably either paid good money to have it done or we put a lot of personal effort (sweat equity) into such a project so that we could use it. In either case, you want us to GIVE you something that - if it works - would be of monetary value. If we did that, we would neither get paid for our work nor would we get any benefit for the grade you would get for the assignment.

You said you were limited in time. So ... you wasted more of your time looking for someone else to do YOUR work? I hope to heck for your sake that you WEREN'T just sitting around waiting for something to be handed to you on a silver platter. Life doesn't do that. Pat said it and I'll say it. You could have used Access Rapid Application Development abilities to whip up a functional if simplistic system, but you've been looking for freebies. Here's a life lesson. Sometimes the best answer is "Do it yourself" and live with the results.

With no personal disrespect intended, I would advise you to get to work on your project and stop asking for charity.

Unfortunately, Mom usually tried to bail you out, probably setting the wrong precedent for the rest of your life.

The major problem I find if you get a template as a headstart, is the time it takes to actually understand how it works, as you are going to have to modify it after all.?

You missed the point. I dare say that everyone here, as well as every other forum where I regularly participate, the "experts" are involved precisely because we all want to help.

What happened here is that the OP popped in at the last possible moment, or last possible day, right before the assignment was due and casually asked for a donation of a working database which the OP could then submit as his or or own work, for a grade in a class. TheDocMan pointed out the monetary aspect. We can spend hours creating a viable database application. We don't just turn around and give that work away.

But more importantly, in my opinion, is the attitude that being enabled to turn in someone else's work for a grade in a class would be acceptable. You ask what's the downside to using ChatGPT? The same as asking YOU to create this database application for him or her. It's someone else's efforts.

If you are willing to donate hours of your own work, not to a learning experience, but only to getting an unearned grade, go ahead and do it.

I do feel strongly about asking for a donated product that could be used to fulfill the OP's class assignment with minimal or no effort.

Well, now it seems you are still missing the point. I'm sure a significant number of people reading this discussion have similar inventory or Mom and Pop Store applications, or could put together something more or less appropriate. I can think of one, in fact, available as a template from Microsoft. It would require several hours of modification to suit the "tv store" scenario, but it's freely available.

The fact that people are not willing to donate their own work for someone else to use to get a grade, that is the reason nothing else is forthcoming.

Surely an Inventory DB is all that is needed?, or at least a good place to start?
However, needing it by tomorrow is the big drawback.

The biggest drawback is trying to get out of doing your own homework for a class. But that's actually fine, because if he gets a bad grade, he'll have learned a useful lesson... don't look for a bailout from a higher authority.

I usually have 2 words in answer to these sorts of requests, and I am sure you will get similar responses
as you work your way through life's hard road.

Since the student was in a time crunch his only options were: to use a template like @Gasman suggested or get help from ChatGPT.

When I was young and in university, they obliged us to do and learn things that none of us needed or was interested in. I wanted to be a designer (which I am now), and I can remember it clear now. I had to pass a German class. Why on earth I need to to be able to say simple greetings in a language that not only I'm not interested in nor plan to use. As anyone can guess, I cheated and passed the term. Now 40 years has passed and I haven't used nor needed what I learned that time. Do you blame me for cheating?

You absolutely can call me lazy. But I don't think I've missed a thing by passing all those subjects that I had to pass and wasn't interested in by cheating or asking others to do it for me.

I have two sons, one has a PHD in quantum physics, the other has a PHD in math. You can't believe how they both hated what they tried to feed them while they were studying. History? Why a mathematician needs to know anything about something that happened 600 years ago in another country? Who has invented this stupid idea that a master degree in history needs learning Databases or programming? I know a relative that had to pass politic as a course when he was trying to be a dentist. Are those who make us to learn something that we are not interested in out of their mind?

I don't know about the OP. but I can definitely assure you the answer may be a big NO. Because for sure it's something that neither he's interested in, nor needs for his future.
