The Flicker Effect. Mouseover a Text Label causes a screen repaint?

Why would moving the mouse pointer over an unassociated text label cause portions of the form to be repainted? This 'Flicker Effect' is especially noticable, and distracting, on slower PCs.

The attached image shows a fragment of my multi-tabbed form. Moving the mouse over the unassociated text labels Location or Company causes all controls, labels, and boxes to be repainted. This behaviour does not occur if you mouseover any other control, label, or box.

I tried associating Location to the existing control Address and the result was unsatisfactory. Moving the mouse over Location no longer caused a flicker; however, moving the mouse over Address did cause the flicker effect! The problem appears to be transferable!

If I eliminate the labels Location and Company the Flicker Effect is also eliminated. If I create new unassociated text labels, the problem returns.

Can anyone explain what is happening and how to eliminate it?

Found a lead ...

Allen Browne's site has a new tip (Flicker with tab controls) concerning screen flickering when moving the mouse over the pages of a tab control in MS Access 2003. The workaround is to convert the labels to text boxes.

I'll give this a go this evening ...

Confirmed; the workaround eliminates the Flicker Effect.

You must replace all unattached labels with text boxes.

Hopefully the Flicker Effect will be eliminated in a future service pack for MS Access 2003.
