The Microsoft Jet database engine stopped the process… Error message

I attempted to add new queries, reports, and a form to a shared database. It bombed out and I found that a user was changing data in the tables at the same time.

Now I cannot access the database at all (front or backend) and receive the error message: “The Microsoft Jet database engine stopped the process because you and another user are attempting to change the same data at the same time”. (I have verified that no users are currently logged in.)

Access to the data is critical to my department and I’m scrambling to fix this. Can anyone assist me?

In a multi-user environment it is *very* important that the db is split into FE and BE and that everyone have their own local copy of the FrontEnd.

Your problem may be caused by a stuck .ldb file. Just delete it.

LDB files are normally in the same place as the MDB file.

There's nothing there. That's why I'm stumped as to why I cannot access the database.

Can you get into the db while holding down a <SHIFT> key?

I cannot open the version on the server. I can open a version on my desktop but cannot access any of the linked tables.

We thought it might be related to corrupt data so we restored the SQL side to a pre problem date but we still can't open the server database or the linked table data.
