I'm trying to export a table to Excel but keep getting this error message.

I know that there is a limit of 255 fields - I assume this is per table - but in this case I only have ten. There have only ever been ten, no fields added or deleted. The database auto-compacts on close, and I've run Compact and Repair to reset the field counter.

Despite this, still keep getting this message. Any suggestions welcome!

Argyle Janner,

It could be that your table is apprroaching the maximum number of characters per record.

The theoretical maximum is 2047 total, but I have noticed that on trying to export to another Access database that I had to reduce the record size to around 1500 characters. I have only tried this once so the 1500ish may be a variable number dependant on ? who-knows-what, but it may be worth you exporting your table in 2parts.

It is not starightforward to count the number of charcaters used per record, but exporting to Textpad is a reasonable way to do this, as Textpad has line and column markers within it.

This one defeated me in the end. Number of fields should never have been a problem, and I didn't appear to have any issues with contents of fields either. I ended up just deleting the process of creating and exporting that particular table and spun it off an existing table/export instead, which is what I probably should have done in the first place...Thanks for the feedback tho, any help always appreciated!
