total for groupings?

My report has several groupings Field1, Field2 etc. I am trying to get a total on the major groups. feks: need a total for New or Chair. All my totals = 5.

New_____Chair_____Green
__________________Blue
________Table _____Green
__________________Blue
Old_____Chair______Grey
Help?

One way of doing this is to create a calculated control in the detail section of your group then go into the properties of the control and set the control source to =1, Running Sum: OverGroup then hide this control so that it is not visible. Next create a calculated control in the group footer and set this to the control source of the first calculated control.
